What are the requirements for the design and production of gusset plate mould

The requirements for the design and manufacture of gusset die are as follows: accurate size, smooth surface; reasonable structure, high production efficiency and easy automation; easy manufacturing, high life and low cost; the design meets the needs of technology and is economical and reasonable.

The rigidity, orientation, discharging mechanism, positioning method, gap size and other factors should be considered in the design and parameter selection of die structure. The wearing parts on the mould should be easy to replace. For plastic mold and die casting die, reasonable gating system, flow state of molten plastic or metal, position and direction of entering the cavity should also be considered. The first mock exam is to increase the productivity and reduce the runner loss. A number of identical or different products can be completed in one mold at the same time. High efficiency, high precision and long life mould should be used in mass production.

The multi position progressive die should be used in the stamping die, and the carbide insert progressive die can be used to improve the service life. In small batch production and trial production of new products, simple dies with simple structure, fast manufacturing and low cost should be used, such as combined die, sheet die, polyurethane rubber mold, low melting point alloy mold, zinc alloy mold, superplastic alloy mold, etc. Mold has begun to use computer-aided design (CAD), that is, through a set of computer-centered system to optimize the mold design. This is the development direction of mold design.

According to the structural characteristics, die manufacturing can be divided into plane blanking die and cavity die with space. The blanking die uses the size of punch and female die to match accurately, some even have no gap fit. Other forging dies, such as cold extrusion die, die casting die, powder metallurgy die, plastic mold, rubber mold, etc., belong to cavity die, which are used to form three-dimensional workpiece. It is difficult to manufacture the cavity mould because of its complex shape and large dimension. Mold production is generally single piece, small batch production, manufacturing requirements are strict, accurate, using precision processing equipment and measuring devices.

The precision of plane blanking die can be further improved by EDM, form grinding and coordinate grinding. Form grinding can be done by optical projection curve grinder, surface grinding machine with grinding wheel mechanism, or with special form grinding tool on precision surface grinder. The coordinate grinder can be used for the precise positioning of the mould to ensure the precise hole diameter and hole distance. It can also be used to grind punch and die of any curve shape with CNC continuous track coordinate grinder. The cavity mould is usually machined by profile milling machine, EDM and ECM. The machining quality of the cavity can be improved by combining profiling milling with NC machining and adding three-way translation head device in EDM. The production efficiency can be improved by adding aerated electrolysis in ECM.
